The Greater Sage Grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus phaios and Centrocercus urophasianus urophasianus) was formerly designated by COSEWIC as the Sage Grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) Prairie Population (Centrocercus urophasianus urophasianus) and the British Columbia Population (Centrocercus urophasianus phaios). Throughout the status report the species is referred to as Sage Grouse. Please note that the status recommended in the Section “Evaluation and Recommended Status” of the report may differ from the latest assigned to the species by COSEWIC.
