Biographical Summary of Report Writer

Hans Roemer received his MSc from the Technical University of Hannover, Germany, in 1967 and his PhD from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, in 1972. His PhD dissertation was on the forest vegetation and environments of the Saanich Peninsula, Vancouver Island, and both his professional work and private interests up to the present revolved around plant ecology and botany. He held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia and worked as an environmental consultant in British Columbia and Germany to 1977. From 1978 to 2002 he held positions as plant ecologist in the Ecological Reserve and Provincial Park Programs with the Government of British Columbia. After early retirement from the public service in early 2002 he returned to consulting in conservation assessments, plant ecology and field botany.
