Sommaire biographique de la rédactrice du rapport

Debra Badzinski est actuellement biologiste des populations d’oiseaux à Études d’oiseaux Canada (EOC), un organisme à but non lucratif qui se consacre à la recherche sur les oiseaux du Canada ainsi qu’à leur surveillance et à leur conservation. En 1996, elle a obtenu un baccalauréat spécialisé en écologie et en évolution de la University of Western Ontario et, en 2000, elle a obtenu une maîtrise ès sciences de la Trent University. Son mémoire portait sur la dynamique des populations de Pluviers semipalmés (Charadrius semipalmatus) nichant à Churchill, au Manitoba. Mme Badzinski est au service d’EOC depuis 1999, où elle coordonne divers relevés menés par des bénévoles, y compris le National Nocturnal Owl Survey et le Red-Shouldered Hawk and Spring Woodpecker Survey. En outre, elle travaille sur de nombreux programmes visant les oiseaux en péril, notamment la Paruline à capuchon, l’Effraie des clochers, le Hibou des marais et le Pygargue à tête blanche, en péril dans la province.
